About the Organisations

The SIDS YOUTH AIMS HUB (SYAH) was formed as a result of the 2013 UNESCO and UNICEF organized youth forum ‘My SIDS, My World’, to ensure that young people contribute their vision of the future of SIDS nations.

Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are low-lying coastal countries that share similar characteristics as well as sustainable development challenges. The Africa, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean, and the South China Sea together form the AIMS region, one of 3 regions within the network of SIDS.

SYAH's strategic focus on advocacy, research and community development forms the basis of their programs, and supports their vision to implement youth-led sustainable development within the AIMS region.

Aparna Bhasin Consulting is supporting the Mauritius chapter of SYAH in this project, with the financial support of the ENL Foundation.

ENL is a broad-based conglomerate with interests in most sectors of the national economy of Mauritius. It has grown from an essentially agricultural concern in the 19th century, into a modern, family-controlled business group. ENL’s business interests are in the areas of Agriculture - primarily sugar, Property Development, Light and Commercial Manufacturing, and Hospitality and Leisure Services.

ENL Foundation is the implementation vehicle for the group’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy and initiatives. Its mission is to bring to life the ENL value of good Corporate Citizenship by taking and supporting initiatives that are in line with the ENL’s culture as well as with the legal and fiscal obligations governing this sector.

The foundation is active in the areas of youth development, poverty alleviation, child welfare, employee engagement as well as sports, culture and the preservation of the natural environment. They work alongside result-oriented not-for-profit organisations and through initiatives of their own.
